Le 31 mai 2023 à partir de 17h, venez écouter Oksana Kis pour sa conférence (en anglais) intitulée « From Allergen to Remedy: (Re)Inventing Feminism in Post-Soviet Ukraine ».
This lecture will trace changes in public perception of feminism and in feminist activism in Ukraine from total demonization and rejection in the late 1980s and in 1990s – up to the present-day acknowledgements and adoption of feminist ideas and practices at different levels. Three generations of activists will be identified, various forms of women’s activism will be explored – from “maternalist” initiatives and traditionalist women’s organizations of the early period up to radical anarchist women’s groups and LGBT organizations operating in contemporary Ukraine. Feminist efforts aimed at rehabilitation and public promotion of feminism will be discussed. The effects of the Revolution of Dignity (Euromaidan, 2013-2014) and the Russian war on Ukraine (war in Donbass) on the further progress of feminist awareness amongst women activists and a variety of feminist activities and achievements will be discussed.
